• Gently rocking, sitting by,
• The sunbeams displaying the wall,
• Atop the crest of a new day
• Inhaling the simmering scent left over from mornings meal,
• Little darlings lying upon the dark shag floor,
• Shreds of tattered paper strung throughout,
• Silently tugging at one another
• Vieing for the red crayon
• Each masterpiece being created,
• Be held by magnet in its proper place,
• Still, we sit, pleased with ourselves
• A snicker, then a giggle to delightful sketches
• A scribble and cramped together backwards letters
• Awe..., endearing the heart, such imagination,
• Clad in blue jeans and faded shirts
• Grape jelly decorating the collar,
• One, then the other, turn to face me,
• A breath of sweet air, I gasp...
• Warm sunshine beaming over winning smiles
• I then gather my emotion....
• And truly realize the sincerity of youth,
• My own innocence coming back to me,
• Memoirs from yesterday, desperate to stay,
• Their spirits encompassing mine,
• The gentle beauty of life,
• The Rosebuds in my garden.
